Heineken Cup 1997/98

The 1998/99 Heineken Cup was the fourth edition of the Heineken Cup , the most important European cup competition in rugby union . 16 teams from four countries took part. Teams from England were not represented , including defending champions Bath Rugby , as the English Association of Rugby Football Union disagreed with the organizers on match dates and finances. The final took place on January 30, 1999 at Lansdowne Road Stadium in Dublin . Cup winners were the Irish team Ulster Rugby , which beat US Colomiers from France in the final.
