Heineken Cup 2001/02

The Heineken Cup 2002/03 was the eighth edition of the Heineken Cup , the most important European cup competition in rugby union . 24 teams from six countries took part. The final took place on May 24, 2003 at Lansdowne Road Stadium in Dublin . The French team Stade Toulousain , who beat USA Perpignan in the final, won the cup for the second time .

mode

The participants were divided into six groups of four teams each. Each team played a home and an away game against the three group opponents. The six group winners and the two best runners-up qualified for the quarter-finals.

The points were distributed as follows:

  • 2 points for a win
  • 1 point for a tie

Group stage

  • Group winners, qualified for quarter-finals
  • Two best runners-up, qualified for quarter-finals
  • In brackets: rank in the quarter-final seeding list
