Heineken Cup 2000/01

The 2001/02 Heineken Cup was the seventh edition of the Heineken Cup , the most important European cup competition in rugby union . 24 teams from six countries took part. The final took place on May 25, 2002 at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff . Cup winners for the second time in a row were the Leicester Tigers from England, who beat the Irish team Munster Rugby in the final .

mode

The participants were divided into six groups of four teams each. Each team played a home and an away game against the three group opponents. The six group winners and the two best runners-up qualified for the quarter-finals.

The points were distributed as follows:

  • 2 points for a win
  • 1 point for a tie

Group stage

  • Two best runners-up, qualified for quarter-finals
  • In brackets: rank in the quarter-final seeding list
