Herning-Ikast Håndbold is a Danish women's handball team from Ikast , which plays in the Danish HTH Ligaen .
history
On June 20, 1970, the three Ikaster associations Ikast FS Håndboldafdeling , Ikast DUI and Ikast Skytte Gymnastik Forening merged . The new club was called Ikast-Bording Elite Håndbold .
After years in lower-class leagues, he moved into the professional handball business in 1991: Ikast rose to the Danish basic series and - still as a second division - won the Danish Cup. The team soon belonged to the top group of the league: In 1994 they finished third in the championship for the first time, and in the following year the team advanced to the semi-finals of the City Cup . The high point of the club's history followed in 1998: Ikast won the Danish championship, the European City Cup and the club championship .
Since then there have been three second and two third places in the championship; Nevertheless, Ikast was increasingly outstripped nationally by other clubs such as Slagelse DT and Viborg HK . These clubs recruited Ikast players like Henriette Mikkelsen ; so far, however, the club has managed to keep its top star Gro Hammerseng-Edin . Internationally, however, the team continued to use exclamation marks with victories in the EHF Cup in 2002 and in the European Cup Winners' Cup in 2004. In 2007 the team was again in the final of the EHF Cup.
In 2008 the club changed its name to Ikast-Brande Elite Håndbold . In November 2008, Ikast-Brande Elite Håndbold merged with FC Midtjylland . The women's team then took on as FC Midtjylland Håndbold . In 2011, FCM won the EHF Cup and the Danish Championship.
Since the 2018/19 season, the club has been playing under the name Herning-Ikast Håndbold .
mascot
The team's mascot is the plush figure Lupus, a wolf, who is featured on the FC Midtjylland Håndbold website together with the team.
