Inter graves (Leo XIII.)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Inter graves is an encyclical of Pope Leo XIII. With this encyclical “on the Church in Peru”, he addressed himself on May 1, 1894 only to the Peruvian episcopate . He first went into the letter of the Peruvian Synod of Bishops , which was held in Lima , and regretted the worries and hardships that were described there.

Recommendations to the Church in Peru

He gives some advice and offers the help of the Apostolic See to strengthen the faith and to support the local Church .

Priest training

A good and disciplined training of seminarians and good study resulted in vigilant guardians of the faith. The instructions for the training of young people, which have already been mentioned in other encyclicals, should be followed so that these young people can withstand the "evil" and the "evils" of society. It is therefore very important to the church teaching of the Church Teacher to Saint Thomas Aquinas to honor and communicate them in line with the Apostolic See. The selection of the priestly candidates who would be admitted to the study should be made by the power of authority by the bishops; only those are admitted who want to serve in the spirit of Christ and the pastoral will.

Importance of missionaries and press work

The missionaries who had left their homeland to spread the faith in order to proselytize in Peru would exercise a particularly difficult office. It is important to administer the sacraments and to bring many new Christians into the flock of believers with baptism . It is still important not to neglect the power of the written word, because the publications, but also a good press work about the true faith, fight all those who want to bring about the destruction of the Catholic Church in a blasphemous manner .
