In 2007 the first international handball tournament took place in Schneverdingen. The reigning triple winner THW Kiel , HSV Hamburg and the Hungarian club MKB Veszprém and KIF Kolding from Denmark took part in the tournament, which was named Brümmerhoff-Cup - named after the main sponsor (Möbelhaus Brümmerhoff) . The Dane Bo Spellerberg was the top scorer with 21 goals, the best player was the Czech Filip Jícha from THW Kiel. Tournament winner Kiel was the first to receive the challenge cup specially designed by Friedhelm Röttgers.

In 2008 there was no tournament. The cadets Schaffhausen (Switzerland) and MKB Veszprém (Hungary) had already confirmed , but because of the tight schedule due to the Olympic Games , no top German team could be signed. Instead, TV Jahn Schneverdingen met Bundesliga club TV Großwallstadt in a friendly .

From August 14th to 16th, 2009 the tournament took place for the first time under the name Internationaler Heide-Cup . The four teams FC Copenhagen Håndbold from Denmark, Kadetten Schaffhausen from Switzerland, Hammarby IF HF from Sweden and the Füchse Berlin met in Schneverdingen. The HSV Hamburg had already agreed, but later, even a rejection, so shortly Schaffhausen stepped in. The winners were the foxes from Berlin. The tournament was opened with the game of Copenhagen against a regional selection from the district of Soltau-Fallingbostel . The tournament was presented at Camp Reinsehlen , where the athletes were also accommodated.

In 2010 the tournament was organized in cooperation with MTV Treubund Lüneburg . The preliminary round matches took place in both Schneverdingen and Lüneburg, the final on August 8, also in the Hanseatic city. Because of the two available venues, eight teams were able to take part for the first time. The HSV Hamburg , the foxes Berlin , the cadets Schaffhausen in Switzerland and the Polish club KS Kielce played first in Schneverdingen; THW Kiel , TV Großwallstadt , KIF Kolding (Denmark), Ademar León (Spain) started in Lüneburg.

Eight clubs again took part in the 2011 tournament, which took place from August 19 to 21 in Schneverdingen and Lüneburg. These were KS Kielce (Poland), Kadetten Schaffhausen (Switzerland) and Medwedi Chekhov (Russia) as well as the German clubs Rhein-Neckar Löwen , SG Flensburg-Handewitt , TV Großwallstadt , TBV Lemgo and Master HSV Hamburg . Originally, the Slovenian top club RK Celje was planned as a participant , but after a large number of the players were not available, Schaffhausen stepped in again.

The previous co-organizer, MTV Treubund Lüneburg , decided not to host it for financial reasons, so that the tournament with a different mode took place exclusively in Schneverdingen. Six teams met from August 17th to 19th: Chambéry Savoie HB (France), Bjerringbro-Silkeborg (Denmark), KS Kielce (Poland) as well as TSV Hannover-Burgdorf , TV Großwallstadt and TBV Lemgo .

In 2013, the new mode remained, so that between August 9th and 11th the top clubs Chambéry Savoie HB from France, the Kadetten Schaffhausen from Switzerland, the Danes from Bjerringbro-Silkeborg and the German clubs TSV Hannover-Burgdorf , HSV Hamburg and the foxes met Berlin . In the final, Hanover defeated the Berliners 32:31 in the seven-meter throw.

The 2014 tournament took place from August 8th to 10th. Six teams from four nations took part. The national double winners were Kadetten Schaffhausen from Switzerland, KS Kielce from Poland and KIF Kolding from Denmark. The field of participants was completed by the German clubs HSV Hamburg , HSG Wetzlar around the two-time world handball player Ivano Balić and the DHB Cup winner Füchse Berlin . Surprisingly, outsiders Wetzlar won the tournament, in the final they defeated the Füchse from Berlin 27:24. The top scorer of the tournament was Steffen Fäth with 18 goals, Fabian Wiede was voted the best player .

In 2015 six clubs met again in Schneverdingen. On three days (7–9 August), the German representatives HSV Hamburg , HSG Wetzlar and SC DHfK Leipzig played with the international clubs Kadetten Schaffhausen (Switzerland), KIF Kolding (Denmark) and, for the first time, IK Sävehof (Sweden) in front of a total of around 2,000 Spectators for the Heide Cup. The opening games were drawn in mid-May in the Designer Outlet Soltau , which was also presented as the tournament's new main sponsor. On August 6th, a friendly match between IK Sävehof and a district selection took place in the BBS hall in Soltau . The final was won by the Bundesliga promoted SC DHfK Leipzig somewhat surprisingly with a 24:22 victory (21:21) after throwing seven meters against Wetzlar. The top scorer of the tournament was awarded to the Swede Viktor Ottosson in the service of IK Sävehof with 21 goals .

The 2016 edition of the Heide Cup took place from August 12th to 14th. Participants were the Bundesliga clubs HSG Wetzlar , MT Melsungen and SC DHfK Leipzig , plus HSV Hamburg and the Champions League participants Kadetten Schaffhausen (Switzerland) and HK Motor Saporischschja (Ukraine). As in the previous year, a game between a district selection and HK Motor Zaporizhia took place on the Thursday evening before the tournament. The winner of the tournament was HSG Wetzlar after a clear 24:17 victory in the final against the Hessian competitor from Melsungen. The best goalscorer was Maximilian Holst from Wetzlar with 27 goals . His teammate Benjamin Burić was named the best goalkeeper .

On the weekend of 11-13 August 2017, the German representatives HSG Wetzlar , SC DHfK Leipzig and HSV Hamburg in Schneverdingen faced the foreign clubs IFK Kristianstad from Sweden, the Kadetten Schaffhausen from Switzerland and the French record champions Montpellier HB . In the final, Montpellier and Kristianstad faced each other, with the Swedes winning 27:21, making them the first foreign club to win the Heide Cup. About 1800 spectators came on the three days of the tournament. The best thrower with 23 hits was Philipp Weber from Leipzig , and Leo Larsson from IFK Kristianstad was chosen as the best goalkeeper .

The 10th edition under the name Heide-Cup took place again in Schneverdingen from 10th to 12th August 2018. Also there were SC DHfK Leipzig , HSV Hamburg and Füchse Berlin from Germany as well as the international teams Montpellier HB (France), IFK Kristianstad (Sweden) and RK Vardar Skopje (Macedonia). Since Leipzig and Skopje did not participate in the finals for various reasons, the reigning EHF Champions League winner Montpellier and the EHF Cup winner from Berlin faced each other in the final . The Berliners were actually only fourth after the first two games. Somewhat surprisingly, the Füchse prevailed with 30:24 and took the title for the second time after 2009. The best thrower was the Dane Hans Lindberg (Füchse Berlin).
