International Olympic Prize of the GDR

The GDR International Olympic Prize was a road bike race in the GDR that was held as a team time trial. The race was organized by the German Cycling Association of the GDR (DRSV) from 1962 and was part of the racing calendar of the Union Cycliste International (UCI) until it was last held .

history

The race led at the beginning of Lübben via Goyatz to Peitz and back to Lübben (1962–1967 and 1969–1970).

In 1968 a course was driven in Gersdorf . The race took place in Cottbus from 1971 to 1974 . From 1975, the line was Forst - Eichwege -Forst selected as the standard race track. From 1974, the time trial was only advertised for national teams; previously club teams from the GDR also took part.

After the end of the GDR , the race continued until 1993 on the initiative of Forster cycling official Otto Friedrich with the support of the Bund Deutscher Radfahrer (BDR), the last event was in 1993.
