Kösser is a district of the large district town of Grimma in the district of Leipzig , Free State of Saxony , Germany. He lies on the bank of the Mulde . Up until December 31, 2010, Kösser was part of the former municipality of Großbothen .
history
The place was mentioned for the first time in 1300. Around 1709 the building of the hunting lodge in Kösser took place under Wolf Dietrich von Erdmannsdorff , the chief hunter and minister of elders at the court of Augustus the Strong for stately hunting parties. The builder of the baroque hunting lodge was not - as has often been mentioned - Matthäus Daniel Pöppelmann , but Wolf Dietrich von Erdmannsdorf himself. However, Pöppelmann provided the design for the facade of the hunting lodge in the Dresden Baroque style . The facade was richly painted, the ballroom was beautifully decorated with chimneys and ceiling paintings.
From 1772 onwards, Kasten was owned by the von Abendroth family . In 1945 they were expropriated without compensation. This affected the hunting lodge and the manor with 232 hectares, including the manor house and farm buildings. A renovation around 1970 saved the hunting lodge from deterioration. Today it is a cultural site, looked after by the DAS JAGDHAUS association, which was founded in 2000 - the village development and culture association Kösser / Förstgen e. V. The manor house of the former manor and its remaining farm buildings were in a deplorable structural condition for a long time, but were restored between 2012 and 2015.
In 1965 Förstgen was incorporated. On January 1, 1994, Kasten was incorporated into Großbothen, and since January 1, 2011 the place has belonged to the large district town of Grimma.
