Jarmolynzi (Ukrainian Ярмолинці ; Russian Ярмолинцы / Jarmolinzy , Polish Jarmolińce ) is an urban-type settlement in the Khmelnitsky Oblast of Ukraine . The place is located 30 km south of the Oblast capital Khmelnytskyi .
In addition to the actual settlement, the village of Shevchenka (Шевченка) also belongs to the settlement council .
history
Jarmolynzi was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1407 and received Magdeburg city charter as early as 1456 . The place was part of the aristocratic republic of Poland-Lithuania in the Podolia Voivodeship until 1793 , after which it came to the Russian Empire and then from 1918 to the Ukrainian SSR and from 1993 to today's Ukraine.
In 1923 the place became the capital of the raion of the same name , in 1958 it was granted the status of an urban-type settlement .
