Julian Schieber (born February 13, 1989 in Backnang ) is a German football player who is mostly used in storms.

VfB Stuttgart

Julian Schieber started playing football at SV Unterweissach when he was five . After leaving school, he began training in gardening and landscaping, which he broke off after a year. He switched to TSG Backnang in 2005 and joined the youth department of VfB Stuttgart in 2006 . For the 2008/09 season Schieber belonged to the squad of the second team of VfB Stuttgart for the first time.

Schieber made his professional debut on July 26, 2008 (1st matchday) in a 1-1 draw in the third division home game against Kickers Offenbach . He scored his first professional goal on September 14, 2008 (6th matchday) in a 6-0 win in the away game against FC Carl Zeiss Jena with the goal of the final score in the 89th minute.

Schieber made his Bundesliga debut on December 6, 2008 (16th matchday) in a 3-0 win in the away game of VfB Stuttgart against Energie Cottbus with a substitution for Ciprian Marica in the 80th minute. On January 21, 2009, Schieber extended his contract with VfB prematurely until June 2011. On February 18, 2009, he played his first European Cup game in the UEFA Cup against Zenit Saint Petersburg . He scored his first Bundesliga goal on August 15, 2009 (2nd matchday) in a 4-2 win at home against SC Freiburg with the goal of the final score in the 89th minute. On September 26th (7th matchday) he even managed a double goal in a 3-0 win in the away game against Eintracht Frankfurt . With VfB Schieber took part in the Champions League 2009/10 and played five games in the group stage before he was eliminated with the team in the round of 16 against FC Barcelona .

1. FC Nuremberg

For the 2010/11 season , Julian Schieber moved to 1. FC Nürnberg on loan for one year . On the second day of the match he scored his first Bundesliga goal for the Franks against SC Freiburg. On September 22, 2010 and February 12, 2011 he scored one goal each in the victories against his former club VfB Stuttgart. With seven goals this season he was the second best goalscorer for 1. FC Nürnberg behind Christian Eigler .

VfB Stuttgart

At the beginning of the 2011/12 season , Schieber returned to Stuttgart, but was not used in the first games due to a long-lasting injury.

Borussia Dortmund

For the 2012/13 season , Schieber moved to the German champions Borussia Dortmund . He signed a contract with BVB until June 30, 2016. He scored his first competitive goal for BVB on October 30, 2012 in the DFB Cup game against VfR Aalen in the 80th minute. In the group game of the Champions League , he scored the 1-0 winning goal against Manchester City . Schieber also played in the 2013 Champions League final . On April 6, 2013 (28th matchday), he scored two goals for BVB for the first time in a 4-2 win at home against FC Augsburg .

Hertha BSC

For the 2014/15 season , Schieber moved to league competitor Hertha BSC , with whom he signed a contract that was valid until 2018. After a good start to the season, he injured himself early and was hardly ever used. A cartilage damage in his left knee forced him to take a one-year break, and he made his comeback in February 2016. Exactly one year later, in February 2017, Schieber injured his knee again and had to take another nine months off.

FC Augsburg

On May 22, 2018, FC Augsburg signed Schieber free of charge. He received a three-year contract.

National team

On September 4, 2009 Schieber made his debut in the U-21 national team and scored his first two international goals in the European Championship qualifier against the selection of San Marino .
