Kapitaniwka ( Ukrainian Капітанівка ; Russian Капитановка Kapitanowka ) is an urban-type settlement in the Kirovohrad Oblast in central Ukraine with 2,500 inhabitants (2019).

Geographical location

Kapitaniwka is located in the north of Novomyrhorod Rajon on the border with Cherkassy Oblast at an altitude of 193 m at the source of the Roslyvna ( Розливна ), a 15 km long right tributary of the Velyka Wys . Kropywnyzkyj , the capital of the oblast, is located 80 km southeast and the district center Novomyrhorod 17 km southwest of the village. In the south, the village of Tyschkivka borders on Kapitanivka. Territorial road T-24-14 runs through the village .

The settlement Rats community whose administrative center is the settlement include, in addition to the villages Kapitaniwka Pryschtschepiwka ( Прищепівка ⊙ ) with about 320 inhabitants and Riwne ( Рівне ⊙ ) with about 120 residents.

history

The village, founded in 1774, was occupied by the Wehrmacht from August 1, 1941 to January 26, 1944 . In 1846 a sugar mill was built in the village and sugar production formed the livelihood of many residents in the 1970s. Since 1962 Kapitanivka has had the status of an urban-type settlement.
