Dobrovelychkivka ( Ukrainian Добровеличківка ; Russian Добровеличковка Dobrowelitschkowka ) is an urban-type settlement in the Ukraine near the geographical center of the country.
Dobrowelychkivka is the district center of Dobrovelychkivka district in Kirovohrad Oblast . The population is 6,976 (as of November 19, 2006). The population has decreased significantly: in 1975 there were 11,300 inhabitants, in 1990 it was 8,700. The zip code is 27004, the settlement council includes the actual place and the 2 villages Warwaro-Oleksandriwka ( Варваро-Олександрівка ) and Marjivka ( Мар'ївка ).
history
The settlement was founded in the second half of the 18th century. The founder and namesake of Dobrowelytschkiwka was Yaroslav Velytschkiwskyj, a wealthy prince whose origins can be traced back to influential Cossacks. The principality was taken over by the Rewutskyj family; as a result, the place name was changed to Revutsk in 1822 . Since 1883 the place has been called Dobrowelytschkivka again. On September 23, 1935 Dobrowelytschkiwka was administratively assigned to the Tyshkivka district , and since June 7, 1957 Dobrowelytschkiwka itself is an administrative-territorial center of the district with 43,300 inhabitants.
Like all of central Ukraine, Dobrovelychkivka was affected by the mass extinction caused by the Holodomor in the years 1931 to 1933. The exact number of victims can hardly be calculated.

Dobrovelychkivka is located near the geographic center of Ukraine. The exact center point is a point about 700 meters northwest of the local border, which is marked with a monument.
The settlement is located on the south-western side of the Dnieper highlands at an altitude of 171 m above sea level. The Synjucha River runs 44 kilometers to the north and the Chornyj Tashlyk River 72 kilometers to the south .
In a northerly direction, along the main highway, lie the villages of Lypnjaschka and Tyschkiwka . To the south is the settlement of Pischanyj Brid ( Піщаний Брід ). The next railway connection is 24 kilometers south in Pomitschna .
