history

The settlement was founded in the second half of the 18th century. The founder and namesake of Dobrowelytschkiwka was Yaroslav Velytschkiwskyj, a wealthy prince whose origins can be traced back to influential Cossacks. The principality was taken over by the Rewutskyj family; as a result, the place name was changed to Revutsk in 1822 . Since 1883 the place has been called Dobrowelytschkivka again. On September 23, 1935 Dobrowelytschkiwka was administratively assigned to the Tyshkivka district , and since June 7, 1957 Dobrowelytschkiwka itself is an administrative-territorial center of the district with 43,300 inhabitants.
