Konstantin Sergejewitsch Saslonow
Konstantin Zaslonov , Russian Константин Сергеевич Заслонов , (* 25 December 1909 . Jul / 7. January 1910 greg. In Ostashkov ; † 14. November 1942 in Kupowat at Senno in the Vitebsk Region ) was a commander of the Soviet partisans in the Belorussian Soviet Socialist Republic and Hero of the German-Soviet War . He initially headed a simple partisan group and later a partisan brigade and was ultimately responsible for all partisan units in the Orsha region .
Pre-war period
He concluded his studies in 1930 at the railway technology - College in Velikiye Luki from. From 1935 he was deputy head of the roundhouse in Novosibirsk , from 1937 head of the roundabout in Roslavl and from 1939 in Orsha .
Second World War
When the German troops advanced to Orsha, Saslonov moved to Moscow and took over a job in the Ilyich locomotive depot.
In October 1941 he volunteered to be sent with other railroad workers to the enemy-occupied area. There he founded an underground guerrilla unit . His pseudonym was "Djadja Kostja" (Uncle Konstja). His group members used pieces of cast iron filled with explosives that looked like pieces of coal to render 93 German steam locomotives unusable within three months.
In March 1942, when an arrest was already immanent, Saslonov and his comrades left Orsha to found a partisan group. The unit carried out some successful combatant missions in the Vitebsk , Orsha and Smolensk region , killing several enemy soldiers and destroying their material and equipment.
On November 14, 1942 Konstantin Saslonow died a so-called heroic death in a fight with a German elite unit or death squad in Kupowat near Senno in the Wizebskaja Woblasz .
Awards
- On March 7, 1943 Konstantin Saslonow was posthumously awarded the title “ Hero of the Soviet Union ” by a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet for the exemplary execution of orders in the fight against the German occupation.
- He received two orders of Lenin and several medals .

- A monument to Konstantin Saslonov was erected in Orsha . The depot in Orsha was named after him.
- Another memorial stands on Ostashkov's station square .
- The Saslonov children's railway in Minsk was named after him in 1971.
