Korop ( Ukrainian and Russian Короп ) is an urban-type settlement in the Chernihiv Oblast of Ukraine and the center of the raion of the same name with 5600 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2005).

history

A fortress has existed on the site of the settlement since the 11th century. The name Korop has been known since the end of the 16th century. The ataman of the Cossacks Demjan Mnohohrischnyj was born in Korop in 1631.
