Semeniwka ( Ukrainian Семенівка ; Russian Семёновка Semjonowka ) is a city in the north of the Ukrainian Oblast Chernihiv and the administrative center of the raion of the same name with 8,200 inhabitants (2019).
The southern village of Kuty Druhi ( Кути Другі ) also belongs to the municipality . Until 2013 the village of Kuty Perschi ( Кути Перші ) belonged to the municipality, but this was abandoned. The river Revna ( Ревна ), a tributary of the Snow, runs south of the city .
history
The village was founded in 1680 as part of the Russian Empire . Between 1802 and 1918 it was part of the Chernigov Governorate . In 1926 it was given the status of an urban-type settlement and at the same time appointed the district center of the district of the same name. In 1953 Semeniwka was finally granted city rights.
