Krahule (until 1927 Slovak and "Blajfus" - 1927-1946 "blue-footed"; German blue-footed , blue footed , Hungarian Kékellő - and 1888 blue-footed ) a community of the middle part is Slovakia northeast of the city Kremnica .
geography
The community is located above Kremnitz at an altitude of about 880 meters, on a platform (terrace) in the Kremnické mountains ( Kremnické vrchy ).
history
The place was first mentioned in writing as Blaufuss in 1331 and was created as a forest hoof village by German miners. From 1895 there was a state lace school in the village . From 1980 to 1992 the municipality was part of Kremnica. Today the community is a winter sports and hiking area.
population
In the 2001 census, 35 of the 144 inhabitants stated to be Carpathian Germans . This made Krahule the only place in Slovakia in which the proportion of this German minority exceeded the 20 percent threshold. Thus, Krahule / Blaufuss is the only Slovak-German town. Therefore, German is the second official language in Krahule after Slovak . In the 2011 census, 62 of the 197 residents stated that they were Carpathian Germans .
