Hronská Dúbrava (until 1946 "Dúbrava" in Slovak; Felsőbesenyő in Hungarian - until 1888 Dubrava ) is a small community in Kraj Banská Bystrica in central Slovakia . It is located in the Grant Valley between the Kremnitzer and Schemnitz Mountains , 11 km from Zvolen and 13 km from Žiar nad Hronom .

The place was first mentioned in 1388 as Besserech and belonged to the estate of Šášov Castle.

Today it is a regional railway junction - this is where the southern main line from Bratislava to Košice runs and the lines to Banská Štiavnica and Vrútky branch off in the village.
