Pitelová (until 1927 Slovak and "Pytelová"; Hungarian Kiszelfalu - to 1892 Pityelova ) is a municipality in the middle of Slovakia with 646 inhabitants (December 31, 2019), which for Okres Žiar nad Hronom of, part kraj Banskobystrický heard .

The municipality is located in the southern part of the Kremnica Mountains above the eastern foothills of the Žiarska kotlina basin , through which the Hron flows. The center of the village is at an altitude of 455  m nm and is eight kilometers from Žiar nad Hronom .

Neighboring communities are Jastrabá in the north, Trnavá Hora in the east and south, Žiar nad Hronom ( Šášovské Podhradie district ) in the southwest and Stará Kremnička in the west.

history

Pitelová was first mentioned in writing in 1264 as Kiszelw-Pecheny and at that time belonged to the property of the abbey in Hronský Beňadik . In 1487 ownership changed to the Archdiocese of Gran and finally in 1776 to the Diocese of Neusohl . The original place was directly on the Hron, because of looting during the Turkish wars and uprisings of the 16th and 17th centuries, the inhabitants moved towards the mountains. In 1534 there were eight portals in the village, in 1715 the village had a restaurant, a mill and 24 houses. In 1828 there were 63 houses and 423 inhabitants who were employed as farmers, cattle keepers and forest workers.

Until 1918, the place in Bars County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, 688 people lived in Pitelová, of whom 665 were Slovaks , three Czechs , two Magyars and one German and one Pole . 16 residents did not provide any information on ethnicity .

549 residents supported the Roman Catholic Church, four residents of the Evangelical Church AB, three residents of the Greek Catholic Church; two residents professed a different denomination. 58 inhabitants had no denomination and the denomination of 72 inhabitants was not determined.
