Dolná Trnávka (Hungarian Alsótárnok - until 1892 Alsótrnavka ) is a municipality in the middle of Slovakia with 339 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), which belongs to the Okres Žiar nad Hronom , part of the Banskobystrický kraj .
geography
The community is located in the Žiarska kotlina basin on the middle course of the Hron , on a corridor terrace between the Prochotský potok and Zákruty brooks . The center of the village is at an altitude of 240 m nm and is six and a half kilometers from Žiar nad Hronom .
Neighboring municipalities are Prestavlky in the north, Lovča in the east, Hliník nad Hronom in the south, Dolná Ždaňa in the west and Horná Ždaňa in the northwest.
history
Dolná Trnávka was first mentioned in writing in 1388 as Thornoka Inferior and at that time it was part of the territory of the Šášov Castle . Later the village came under the administration of the Schemnitzer Bergkammer. In 1601 there were 16 houses in the village, in 1720 16 taxpayers lived here, in 1828 there were 30 houses and 196 residents who were employed as farmers.
Until 1918, the place in Bars County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. Agriculture remained the main source of income in the first Czechoslovak Republic. After the Second World War, part of the population found work in factories in nearby Žiar nad Hronom.

According to the 2011 census, Dolná Trnávka had 350 inhabitants, 346 of whom were Slovaks and one German and one Serbian . One resident stated a different ethnic group and one resident gave no information about the ethnic group .
297 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church and one resident to the Evangelical Church AB; two residents professed a different denomination. 48 residents were without a denomination and the denomination was not determined for two residents.
