Lüderitz is a village in the unified municipality of Tangerhütte in the south of the Stendal district in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The place in the southeast of the Altmark lies on the upper section of the Tangier river . The wide Tangertal between Stendal and the Colbitz-Letzlinger Heide is embedded between the Tangermünder-Buchholz ridge in the northeast (up to 90 meters above sea level ) and the 132 meter high Landsberg in the southwest. The southwestern tip of the Lüderitz district borders on the Börde district . The Schleusser pond west of the village also belongs to the district of Lüderitz .

The districts Lüderitz, Groß Schwarzlosen and Stegelitz form the village of Lüderitz.

history

Luderitz

The original settlement of Wenden and the headquarters of the von Lüderitz family was first mentioned in a document in 1247. The Lüderitz village church was built in the 12th century. The tower from this period is still preserved today.

On September 30, 1928, the Lüderitz manor district was merged with the Lüderitz rural community.

The Chaussee from Stendal via Lüderitz to Magdeburg (today's Bundesstraße 189 ) was built in 1843 and was very important for the development of the community. From July 1, 1950 to September 13, 1963, Brunkau was also a district of Lüderitz.

On May 31, 2010, Lüderitz merged with the other municipalities of the Tangerhütte-Land administrative community to form the new town of Tangerhütte.

Big black lots

The current district of Groß Schwarzlosen (a former manor, owned by the von Borstell family at the beginning of the 18th century ) was first mentioned in a document in 1050. The Groß Schwarzlosen field stone church from the 12th century is probably the oldest bell in the Altmark region. On September 30, 1928, the manor district of Groß Schwarzlosen was merged with the rural community of Groß Schwarzlosen. In the meantime, Groß Schwarzlosen has grown together with Lüderitz.

Stegelitz

The district of Stegelitz , which was first mentioned in a document in 1197 and was originally populated by Wendish , was incorporated into Lüderitz on April 1, 1974. The Stegelitz Church is a building from the 13th century.

politics

The local mayor is Edith Braun.

coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved by the district on May 20, 2010.

Blazon : “Split and half split; in front of the gap in silver half a red eagle, gold armored and tongued, in the back at the top in silver a red anchor with ring, in the back at the bottom in red a silver wavy bar. "

Lüderitz is in the Altmark. Along with Mittelmark and Neumark, it is one of the ancestral regions of the Mark Brandenburg. That is why the colors of the coat of arms take up the red and silver of the Mark Brandenburg. The former municipality wanted to express its solidarity with the Altmark not only with the tinging, but also with the admission of the Brandenburg eagle at the gap. In addition, the wing of the eagle is said to allude to the family of those von Borstell who were resident in this area (especially in Groß Schwarzlosen) and who had eagle wings in their coat of arms. The wing of the eagle is supposed to represent the district of Groß Schwarzlosen.

The anchor is taken from the family coat of arms of those of Lüderitz and represents the eponymous district of the municipality; at the same time it has an etymological reference to the place name "Lüderitz". This is of Slavic origin - the place was originally settled by the West Slavic Wends - and a combination of the words lude = "ship" and rece = "river", which suggests that the Tangerbach on which the place is located, probably earlier must have been navigable.

The corrugated beam should stand for the district of Stegelitz and refer to the Tangier, which is also important for the other two districts and affects them. It also stands for the natural surroundings of the Tangerniederung.

The coat of arms was designed by Thomas Rystau from Hundisburg.

A partnership with the eponymous city of Lüderitz in Namibia has existed since 2019 .
