District Butzbach

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Butzbach district was a district in the Grand Duchy of Hesse , which was renamed the Friedberg district in 1829 . It existed from 1821 to 1832.

history

Emergence

In the course of an administrative reform in the Grand Duchy in 1821, jurisdiction and administration were also separated at the lower level , and the traditional offices in district districts - responsible for administration - and district courts - responsible for jurisdiction - were reorganized. The district of Butzbach arose from:

In 1821 the patrimonial jurisdiction of the nobility in the aforementioned parts of the Butzbach district office still existed in full. In contrast to the name, it also included rights in the area of public safety and order . This was a nuisance for the state, which had to be concerned about its monopoly of force and an undivided state sovereignty.

development

The state therefore tried to take over the sovereign rights of the patrimonial court lords, which in two cases was achieved through the compromise that the state took over the task, but exercised it on behalf of the respective patrimonial court lords. Such agreements have been concluded for:

  • Mehlbach: 1822 and
  • Ockstadt: 1822.
  • Such an agreement was also successful in Beienheim in 1823, but there were difficulties in implementation, so that the assumption of the corresponding rights and obligations by the state was suspended and apparently no longer came about afterwards.
  • Furthermore, in 1822 the Löw von Steinfurth family refrained from performing their duties in the field of public security and order, so that the state took on this task (in its own name).

In 1829 the seat of the district administrator was moved from Butzbach to Friedberg and the name of the district council was changed to Friedberg district district .

The End

In a regional reform in 1832, the district councils were dissolved and merged into larger districts . Shortly thereafter, their layout was determined by another ordinance , whereby the districts of Friedberg and Vilbel were combined to form the Friedberg district .
