Notes on the world and European records:
- Depending on the source, different information about the existing world record can be found. There is a corresponding breakdown in the source used here. Gisela Mauermayer set a world record in Stuttgart in 1938 with 4,391 points, which Lena Stumpf improved to 4507 points in 1949 - values based on the points table from 1954 . However, these two records were achieved in a pentathlon with other disciplines than was the case at these European Championships. Therefore, in contrast to Alexandra Tschudina's competition, they are not comparable with the current all-around competition.
- Disciplines in the Mauermayer and Stumpf competitions: shot put , long jump , 100 m / high jump , javelin throw
- Disciplines in the Tschudina competition and the European Championships: shot put , high jump , 200 m , 80 m hurdles , long jump - in different order
- Alexandra Tschudina's world record was initially unofficial.

For orientation and classification of the performances, the scores achieved in 1980 according to the current rating system are also listed for comparison. With regard to the placements, there would have been a shift:
The seventh-placed Klawdija Totschonowa and the eighth-placed Ivanka Knez would have had to swap places.
But these comparisons are only indicative, because the different standards of the time must apply as a basis.
