The 2012/13 season was the 91st season of Ligue Magnus , the top French ice hockey division . The championship was won by the Dragons de Rouen , who defeated the Ducs d'Angers 4: 3 in the playoff final and thus defended their title from the previous year. The Scorpions de Mulhouse were relegated to Division 1 .

In the main round, the 14 teams play 26 games each. The top twelve teams qualify for the playoffs in which the champions will be played, with the top four teams seeded for the playoff quarter-finals. The last two places in the main round face each other in the relegation, the loser of which is relegated directly to the second division. Each team receives two points for a win after regular playing time and overtime, one point for a loss after overtime and zero points for a defeat after normal playing time.
