Different territorial claims

Over half of all Lima's districts have had a closed conflict with neighboring districts regarding territorial claims for many years. This manifests itself in everyday life, for example, in which property owners pay their taxes in different districts. Or in the election campaign for the office of mayor of various districts, attempts are made to win as many votes as possible with, for example, festive activities.

An example of a controversial area is the Parque Industrial in Cono Norte, which the boroughs of Comas, Los Olivos and Independencia are fighting over.

Table of boroughs

The population figures and information on the area in the following table are from the Instituto Nacional de Estadística e Informática del Peru (INEI) and refer to the censuses of June 4, 1972, July 12, 1981, July 11, 1993 and July 18, 2005. The population and area information are only intended as a reference, as claims to the area of neighboring districts can result in different sources.
