The district of Cieneguilla is one of the 43 urban districts of the Lima Metropolitana region in Peru . It has an area of 240.33 km². The 2017 census counted 34,684 residents. In 1993 the population was 8,993, in 2007 it was 26,725. The administrative seat is in Cieneguilla .
Geographical location
The district of Cieneguilla is located in the east of the province of Lima . It is located on the lower middle reaches of the Río Lurín , 28 km east of the city center of Lima , and extends up to 17.5 km to the Pacific coast . The mountains of the Peruvian Western Cordillera rise on both sides of the river valley . Irrigated agriculture is practiced in the river valley of the Río Lurín.
The district of Cieneguilla borders in the north on the districts Ate and Chaclacayo , in the east on the district Antioquía ( province Huarochirí ) and in the south and west on the district Pachacámac .
