The Puente Piedra district is one of the 43 municipalities of the Lima Metropolitana region in Peru . It has an area of 71.18 km². The 2017 census counted 329,675 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 102,808, in 2007 233,602 and the administrative center is in Puente Piedra .
Geographical location
The Puente Piedra district is located in the north of the Lima province on the west bank of the lower Chillón River , 20 km north of Lima city center . The mean height of the district is around 180 m . The longitudinal extent in north-south direction is about 16.7 km. The 538 m high ridge of Cerro Chillón separates the district from the Callao province further west on the Pacific coast .
The Puente Piedra district borders on the Ancón district to the north, the Carabayllo district to the northeast, the Comas , Los Olivos and San Martín de Porres districts to the southeast , and the Ventanilla and Mi Perú districts to the west (both in the Callao province) .
