The La Molina district is one of the 43 municipalities of the Lima Metropolitana region in Peru . La Molina is one of the more affluent parts of Lima.
Location and population
La Molina covers an area of around 65.75 km² with around 140,679 inhabitants (2017 census). In 1993 the population was 78,235, in 2007 132,498. The city of La Molina and the district of La Molina are congruent.
La Molina borders Ate to the north, Cieneguilla and Pachacámac to the east, Villa María del Triunfo and San Juan de Miraflores to the south and Santiago de Surco to the west .
history
The La Molina district in its current form was founded in 1962 during the second presidency of Manuel Prado y Ugarteche .
The name probably comes from a landowner from the colonial era:
