The district of Lurín is one of the 43 municipalities of the Lima Metropolitana region in Peru . It covers an area of 181.12 km². The 2017 census counted 89,195 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 34,268, in 2007 62,940. The administrative seat is in Lurín .
Geographical location
The Lurín district is located in the south of the Lima Province . It has an approximately 11 km long coastline and extends about 25 km inland. The national road 1S ( Panamericana ) runs along the Pacific coast . The river Río Lurín flows through the northwest of the district and flows into the sea there. To the north of the river mouth is the ancient city of Pachacámac . The foothills of the Peruvian Western Cordillera reach heights of up to 1800 m in the east of the district .
The district of Lurín borders in the northwest on the districts of Villa El Salvador and Villa María del Triunfo , in the north on the district Pachacámac and in the south on the district Punta Hermosa .
