The Santa María del Mar district is one of the 43 urban districts of the Lima Metropolitana region in Peru . It has an area of ​​9.81 km². The 2017 census counted 999 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 181, in 2007 it was 161. The administrative center is Santa María del Mar. The district of Santa María del Mar was separated from the district of San Bartolo on January 16, 1962 .

Geographical location

The Santa María del Mar district is located in the south of the Lima province . It has a coastline of almost 5 km and borders in the north on the district of San Bartolo, in the east on the district of Chilca ( province of Cañete ) and in the south on the district of Pucusana .
