This list gives a (non-exhaustive) overview of encyclopaedically relevant criminologists from German-speaking countries.
Most universities with a law faculty have a chair in criminology . There is a department for criminology at the Max Planck Institute for Criminal Law . In addition to the professors listed here, some professors at sociological university institutes are also involved in research on crime and deviance - see list of criminal sociologists . Criminologists in research institutions of other public services or in freelance work are not excluded in principle.
