Gamal "Lunchmoney" Lewis (born January 11, 1988 in Miami , Florida ), also written LunchMoney Lewis , is an American singer and songwriter .
biography
Gamal Lewis is the son of Ian and the nephew of Roger Lewis, both founding members of the reggae - band Inner Circle . The two founded in Miami , the Circle House Studios and made in the area Roots - and dancehall -Reggae a name. They expanded their repertoire to include hip-hop and were able to bring well-known artists such as Lil Wayne and Flo Rida into their recording studio. In addition to his brother Abebe, who later took over the studio, Gamal Lewis was also involved and was first mentioned as a songwriter for Meek Mill , Ace Hood and P. Diddy . In 2014 he was involved in the chart hits Burnin 'Up by Jessie J and Boss by Fifth Harmony .
Lewis had already recorded songs in the 2000s with a band called Bottom of da Map and later alone that were also on the radio in Miami, and had produced his own Internet videos for YouTube . Through his work he got to know the producer and songwriter Lukasz Gottwald alias Dr. Luke made him, who signed him and brought him in 2014 as a guest singer for the album The Pinkprint by Nicki Minaj , on which he can be heard on the song Trini Dem Girls . Lewis released his debut single, Bills, a year later . In Australia, where the song was first released in February of that year, it rose to number one within four weeks and went triple platinum . In May, Bills reached number 2 in Great Britain and top chart positions in Austria and Germany as well as gold status in these three countries. In Germany later that year the follow-up single Whip It was also successful. In Australia it reached number 11 and was once again double platinum.
