Majlis al-Umma (Jordan)

The Jordanian Parliament , called Majlis al-Umma  /مجلس الأمة / Maǧlis al-Umma  / 'National Assembly', consists of two chambers.

  • The Assembly of Representatives (Jordan)  /مجلس النواب / Maǧlis an-Nuwwāb  / 'Assembly of Representatives' has 110 members. 104 of them are elected for four years. Six seats are reserved for women who are determined in a special election. Nine of the seats in the chamber are reserved for Christians and three seats are reserved for Chechens and Circassians .
  • The Senate (Jordan)  /مجلس الأعيان / Maǧlis al-Aʿyān  / 'Senate' has 40 members who are appointed by the Jordanian king.
