House of Representatives of Yemen

The House of Representatives of Yemen ( Arabic مجلس النواب اليمني Majlis al-Nuwwāb al-Yamanī ) is the parliament of the Republic of Yemen .

A total of 301 members are elected to parliament for six years each.

After the reunification of South Yemen ( People's Democratic Republic of Yemen ) and North Yemen ( Yemeni Arab Republic ) in 1990 , parliamentary elections were held in 1993, 1997 and 2003.

  • The parliamentary elections planned for April 2009 were initially postponed to 2011, but were not implemented.

    In February 2015, the Houthi rebels officially took power over Yemen and dissolved parliament.

    The parliament had its seat in the capital Sanaa .
