Marie Braun
Marie "Zus" Philipsen-Braun (born June 22, 1911 in Rotterdam , † June 23, 1982 in Gouda ) was a Dutch swimmer .
At the Olympic Games in Amsterdam in 1928 , she became Olympic champion over 100 meters back and won the silver medal over 400 meters freestyle . She was one of the best European swimmers in the twenties and was European champion over 400 meters freestyle in 1927 and in 1931 European champion over 100 meters back and with the 4 x 100 meter freestyle relay.
In total, she set six world records and four European records in her career . In 1980 she was inducted into the international swimming pool 's hall of fame .
