Maxine Moul

Maxine Burnett Moul (born January 26, 1947 in Oakland , Burt County , Nebraska ) is an American politician . Between 1991 and 1993 she was lieutenant governor of the state of Nebraska.

Career

Maxine Burnett, her maiden name, attended the public schools in her home country, including Oakland High School . She then studied journalism at the University of Nebraska until 1969 . Until 1971 she worked for the Sioux City Journal as a reporter and photographer. In 1972, she and her husband Francis Moul bought the Syracuse Journal-Democrat newspaper . This resulted in a large regional newspaper publisher. At the same time she embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party .

In 1990, Moul was elected Lieutenant Governor of Nebraska alongside Ben Nelson . She held this office between 1991 and her resignation in 1993. She was Deputy Governor and formal chairman of the Nebraska Legislature . Her resignation took place after her appointment as Minister of Economic Affairs of her state ( Director of the Department of Economic Development ). She held this office until 1999.

Between 2001 and 2003 she was the director of the Nebraska Community Foundation charity . In 2006 she ran unsuccessfully for the United States House of Representatives . In 2009 Maxine Moul was supported by President Barack Obama to the US Department of Agriculture appointed where they regional director for Rural Development ( Rural Development Director was) for Nebraska. She has held this office ever since.
