Lavon Heidemann

Lavon Lynn Heidemann (born October 24, 1958 in Pawnee City , Pawnee County , Nebraska ) is an American politician . From 2013 to 2014 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Nebraska.

Career

In 1977 Lavon Heidemann graduated from Elk Creek High School . Then he worked as a farmer. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . He served on the Elk Creek City School Committee and later on the local Fire Department Committee. Between 2005 and 2012 he was a member of the Nebraska Legislature . In 2012 he became a regent board member of the University of Nebraska .

After Lieutenant Governor Rick Sheehy resigned , Heidemann was appointed as his successor by Governor Dave Heineman . He held this office from February 13, 2013 as Deputy Governor and formal chairman of the Nebraska Legislature. He resigned on September 9, 2014 after his sister obtained a court order against him not to be allowed to approach her. She had accused him of violent assault. Heidemann renounces his renewed candidacy as running mate of the Republican gubernatorial candidate Pete Ricketts .
