Mike Foley (born April 5, 1954 in Rochester , New York ) is an American politician . He has been Lieutenant Governor of the state of Nebraska since January 2015 .

Career

Mike Foley graduated from Bishop Kearney High School in the suburb of his hometown of Rochester. Until 1976 he studied at the State University of New York in Brockport and then at Michigan State University in East Lansing . His first political experience was as an employee in the office of Democratic Congressman Michael J. Harrington . He later joined the Republican Party . Professionally, he worked in various positions as a financial analyst. Between 2001 and 2007 he sat in the Nebraska Legislature . There he belonged, among other things, to the judicial committee. From 2007 to 2015 he was a state auditor for Nebraska.

In 2014, Foley was elected Lieutenant Governor of Nebraska alongside Pete Ricketts . He has held this office since January 8, 2015. He is Deputy Governor and formally Chairman of the Nebraska Legislature.
