David I. Maurstad

David Ingolf Maurstad (born August 25, 1953 in North Platte , Nebraska ) is an American politician . Between 1999 and 2001 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Nebraska.

Career

David Maurstad studied at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln , the specialist business management ( Business Administration ). He worked in the insurance industry in Nebraska for the next 25 years. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . He became Mayor of Beatrice City and a member of the Nebraska Legislature .

In 1998, Maurstad was elected lieutenant governor of Nebraska alongside Mike Johanns . He held this office between 1999 and 2001. He was Deputy Governor and formal chairman of the Nebraska Legislature. He resigned from this post in 2001 after being appointed Head of District VIII of the Federal Disaster Management Agency ( FEMA ). This district covers the states of Colorado , Montana , North Dakota , South Dakota , Utah, and Wyoming . In 2006, he was appointed to FEMA's Washington, DC headquarters , where he served as director of the Prevention Division.
