Alfred W. Agee

Alfred W. Agee (born November 18, 1850 in Morgan County , Tennessee , †  October 4, 1938 ) was an American politician . Between 1883 and 1885 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Nebraska .

Career

Around 1861, Alfred Agee and his parents moved to Pike County , Indiana , where he attended public schools and worked on his parents' farm. He later taught at times as a teacher. In the fall of 1871 he moved to Morgan County , Illinois , where he also worked as a teacher. After studying law and being admitted to the bar, he practiced this profession from 1874 in Aurora (Nebraska). At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party .

In 1882 Agee was elected Lieutenant Governor of Nebraska alongside James W. Dawes . He held this office between 1883 and 1885. He was Deputy Governor and formal chairman of the State Senate, which in 1937 went into the Nebraska Legislature . Afterwards he was a member of the state legislature for some time. He later moved to Utah where he worked as a lawyer and judge. He died on October 4, 1938.
