Edmund G. McGilton

Edmund George McGilton (born February 10, 1859 in Dunn County , Wisconsin , †  August 31, 1933 ) was an American politician . Between 1903 and 1907 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Nebraska .

Career

Edmund McGilton attended Menomonie High School in his home state of Wisconsin. After a subsequent law degree at the University of Wisconsin and his 1885 admission to the bar, he began to work in this profession. In the meantime he was also a school councilor in Menomonie . As a lawyer, he worked primarily for the Wisconsin Central Railroad . In 1888 he moved to Omaha , Nebraska, where he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party .

In 1902 McGilton was elected Lieutenant Governor of Nebraska alongside John H. Mickey . He held this office after re-election between 1903 and 1907. He was Deputy Governor and formal chairman of the State Senate . After serving as Lieutenant Governor, he returned to practice as a lawyer. In 1916 he became president of the Commercial Law League of America . He died on August 31, 1933.
