George A. Williams

George Arthur Williams (born August 17, 1864 in La Fayette , Stark County , Illinois , †  July 7, 1946 in Boulder , Colorado ) was an American politician . Between 1925 and 1931 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Nebraska .

Career

George Williams came to Nebraska at an unknown time, where he worked as a farmer. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . Between 1919 and 1921 he was an MP in the Nebraska House of Representatives .

In 1924 Williams was elected Lieutenant Governor of Nebraska alongside Adam McMullen . He held this office after two re-elections between 1925 and 1931. He was Deputy Governor and formal chairman of the State Senate . From 1929 he served under the new governor Arthur J. Weaver . Williams was a member of the Sons of Union Veterans . Since 1888 he was married to Mabel Lucretia Grubb, with whom he had three children. He died in Boulder on July 7, 1946 and was buried in Fairmont .
