Robert E. Moore
Robert Emmett Moore (born October 13, 1849 in Darwin , Clark County , Illinois , † December 6, 1921 in Lincoln , Nebraska ) was an American politician . Between 1895 and 1897 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Nebraska.
Career
The sources on Robert Moore are not very rich. His date of birth is given differently in the sources (October 13, 1849 and October 22, 1849). There is just as little information about his youth and schooling as there is about his career outside of politics. His party affiliation is also indicated differently. He is expelled as a Republican by the mayors of Lincoln City , while he is listed as a community candidate for the Democrats and Populist Party on the lieutenant governors' lists . It is conceivable that both statements are correct and that he has changed parties in the meantime.
One thing is certain: he lived at least temporarily in the city of Lincoln and was its mayor between 1883 and 1885. In 1894 he was elected lieutenant governor of Nebraska alongside Silas A. Holcomb . He held this office between 1895 and 1897. He was Deputy Governor and formal chairman of the then State Senate, the later Nebraska Legislature . After his time as Lieutenant Governor, he was no longer politically active. Robert Moore died on December 6, 1921 in Lincoln, where he was also buried.
