Meise is a Belgian municipality in the province of Flemish Brabant with 19,411 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019). It has an area of 34.82 km² and a population density of 557 inhabitants per km².
The municipality consists of the town of Meise and the town of Wolvertem .
location
Meise is north of Brussels , near Wemmel and Strombeek . The main attraction is the Meise Botanical Garden .
Several well-known Belgians live in the rural Brussels suburb, including cycling legend Eddy Merckx , television meteorologist Frank Deboosere, singer Kris Wouters and television presenter Leen Demaré.
In the vicinity of the district Wolvertem there was a transmission system of the Belgian radio. On December 31, 2011, the last frequency, 927 kHz, was switched off and all four transmission masts were blown up on June 26, 2017.
