Melchow [ ˈmɛlçoː ] is a municipality in the south of the Barnim district . It is administered by the Biesenthal-Barnim Office.
geography
The place is 40 km northeast of Berlin-Mitte, not far from the district town of Eberswalde . Melchow makes an inconspicuous impression with cobblestones, a bakery, a newspaper shop, a church, a "nature park station" (one train every hour to Berlin and Eberswalde) and a secluded cemetery in the area, characterized by the slightly hilly, wooded landscape of the Eberswalder Urstromtales , there are also some lakes, such as Samith and Black Lakes .

history
The place was first mentioned in 1324.
Melchow belonged to the Oberbarnim district in the province of Brandenburg since 1817 and to the Eberswalde district in the GDR district of Frankfurt (Oder) from 1952 . The community has been located in the Brandenburg district of Barnim since 1993.
The former district of Spechthausen has belonged to the city of Eberswalde since 2006, after the Spechthausen community representatives broke away from the community of Melchow.

Attractions
The village smithy on Eberswalder Strasse was included in the state monument list. The cultural monuments are listed in the list of architectural monuments in Melchow and in the list of ground monuments in Melchow .
Economy and Infrastructure

The state road L 200 runs through Melchow between Bernau near Berlin and Eberswalde . About 6 km north-east of the district Melchow leading county road K 6007 south to the district Schönholz.
The Melchow stop is on the Berlin – Szczecin railway line . Regional trains of the DB Regio of the line RB 24 ( Eberswalde - Berlin - Senftenberg ) of the transport association Berlin-Brandenburg stop there every hour .
Sports
- Melchow is a stage on the 416 km long 66 lakes regional park route through Brandenburg.
- Reitpark Melchow, an approx. 7.5 kilometers long, terrain and obstacle course designed as a circuit.
- Melchow and Grüntal have a common football club: SV 1969 Melchow / Grüntal
