Michelbach is a district of Schotten in the Vogelsbergkreis in central Hesse .

geography

The place is on the edge of the Vogelsberg , 2 km east of the main town. District road 103 runs on the northern edge of the village .

history

The oldest known written mention of Michelbach took place between 750 and 802 under the name Michelembach in the Codex Eberhardi . The place was initially desolate, but was repopulated from 1495. “In 1495 Landgrave Wilhelm III. from Hessen four men the desolation of Michelbach near Schotten with fields, meadows, trees, fields, water, pasture and all accessories in the field mark Michelbach "

Michelbach belonged with the desert of Elbershausen, with Schotten, Rainrod , Betzenrod , Götzen , Rudingshain and Breungeshain to the court of Schotten in the Middle Ages. In 1533 handed Landgrave Philip of Hesse , among others the alms box and the new hospital in Schotten the "Rode- tithe " to "Getze" (idols), Michelbach and "Elbershußen." In the Reformation were Betzenrod, idols, Michelbach and Rudingshain to the parish Bulkheads.

The statistical-topographical-historical description of the Grand Duchy of Hesse reports on Michelbach in 1830:

"Michelbach (L. Bez. Schotten) evangel. Branch village; is located in Vogelsberg 12 St. von Schotten, at the height where the Bilstein is, has 80 houses and 374 inhabitants, all of whom are Protestant. There are 47 farmers among the inhabitants and 17 of the artisans are weavers and 5 blacksmiths. As a peculiarity it must be mentioned that the fields with high walls are surrounded by heaped stones, and thereby acquire a vestibule-like appearance. By the way, all land is used with great care. "

On December 1, 1970 Michel Bach was in the course of administrative reform in Hesse on a voluntary basis in the city of Scots integrated .

Territorial history and administration

The following list gives an overview of the territories in which Michelbach was located and the administrative units to which it was subordinate:

Courts since 1803

In the Landgraviate of Hesse-Darmstadt , the judicial system was reorganized in an executive order of December 9, 1803. The “Hofgericht Gießen” was set up as a court of second instance for the province of Upper Hesse . The jurisdiction of the first instance was carried out by the offices or landlords and thus the office of Schotten was responsible for Michelbach. The court court was the second instance court for normal civil disputes, and the first instance for civil family law cases and criminal cases. The second instance for the patrimonial courts were the civil law firms. The superior court of appeal in Darmstadt was superordinate .

With the founding of the Grand Duchy of Hesse in 1806, this function was retained, while the tasks of the first instance 1821–1822 were transferred to the newly created regional and city courts as part of the separation of jurisdiction and administration. Michelbach worked a lot in the judicial district of the " Landgericht Schotten ".

On the occasion of the introduction of the Courts Constitution Act with effect from October 1, 1879, as a result of which the previous grand-ducal Hessian regional courts were replaced by local courts at the same location, while the newly created regional courts now functioned as higher courts, the name was changed to "Amtsgericht Schotten" and the district was allocated of the regional court of Giessen .

With effect from July 1, 1968, the local court of Schotten was dissolved and Michelbach came to the judicial district of the local court of Nidda . On January 1, 2012, the district court of Nidda was also dissolved in accordance with the resolution of the Hessian state parliament and Michelbach was assigned to the district court of Büdingen . The superordinate instances are now, the regional court Gießen , the higher regional court Frankfurt am Main and the federal court as last instance.
