Michael Meinardus (* before 1987) is a special effects artist .

Life

Meinardus' career began in 1987 when he was in charge of special effects for the Sirens episode of the television series CBS Summer Playhouse . He then worked in the 1990s and 2000s in the films Lord of the Flies , Ghost - Message from Sam , A completely normal hero , The shrill four in Las Vegas , On the hunt , Just 60 seconds , password: Swordfish , Born 2 Die and Mr. & Mrs. Smith as coordinator for the special effects and assistant to the VFX supervisor. He himself first worked as a VFX supervisor in the film Invasion by Oliver Hirschbiegel in 2007 . He worked in this position the following year with Tropic Thunder by Ben Stiller , in 2015 in Jurassic World by Colin Trevorrow and in 2017 in the film Geostorm by Dean Devlin . For his contribution to the visual effects of Jurassic World , he and his colleagues were nominated at the Satellite Awards 2015 in the category " Best Visual Effects ". The award went to The Walk team . The artistic achievements of him and his colleagues Stephen Rosenbaum , Jeff White and Scott Benza in the film Kong: Skull Island earned the film the only Oscar nomination in the category " Best Visual Effects " at the 2018 Academy Awards .
