Since 2004, the pick-up has also been available in Germany as a diesel with an automatic transmission; until now, import vehicles had to be used for the L200 with a diesel engine. To celebrate victory at the Dakar Rally in January 2005, Mitsubishi is launching a special model: The L200 Dakar, which is particularly noticeable with the Dakar emblems on the fenders, is powered by a 2.5-liter diesel engine with 98 kW ( 133 hp).

The 4th generation of the Mitsubishi SUT (Sport Utility Truck) has, in addition to the all-wheel drive Super Select 4WD borrowed from the Pajero, a 2.5 DI-D diesel engine with 100 kW (136 PS). The version with increased performance from Ralliart DI-D + has an output of 123 kW (167 PS). In addition to the VW Amarok , the L200 also has electronic stability and traction control.
The pickup is between 5.00 (single cab) and 5.26 (double cab) meters long and has a loading area of 2.21 square meters (double cab) or 2.65 square meters (Club Cab) or 3.26 square meters (single cabin). This means that the L200 is approved as a truck. Nevertheless, in Germany it is treated as a car for tax purposes. The pure length of the loading area is 1.50 meters for the double cab, 1.80 meters for the club cab and 2.22 meters for the single cab. The payload is up to 1 ton. The basic model has selectable all-wheel drive with a lockable differential lock on the rear axle, the higher equipment lines have permanent all-wheel drive. In July 2014 there was a slight facelift for the L200. In addition to cosmetic changes to the front and inside, the trailer load has been increased to 2.7 to 3 tons.
In other markets, the fourth generation is known as the Mitsubishi Triton .
In November 2010, there was a model for the recall campaign in Germany because of problems with the steering. All models built up to January 2009 were affected.
Body styles
The L200 is offered in three different body styles. These are single cabins, club cabs and double cabins. They differ in the number of seats and external dimensions. Furthermore, the single cabin is only available in the basic equipment line.
