Motherwell and Wishaw is a constituency for the British House of Commons . It was created in 1974 essentially from the dissolved constituency Motherwell and existed initially until after the general election in 1979. In 1983 Motherwell and Wishaw was dissolved in favor of the newly created constituencies Motherwell North and Motherwell South . Before the 1997 elections, these were reunited to form the constituency of Motherwell and Wishaw.
The constituency covers the southern areas of the North Lanarkshire Council Area around the eponymous towns of Motherwell and Wishaw . The constituency sends a representative.
