Muhammet Demir (born January 10, 1992 in Araklı , Trabzon Province ) is a Turkish football player .

Career

society

Demir started club football in the youth of Karadeniz Ereğlispor . With this club he took part in a youth tournament and attracted several talent scouts. The Turkish first division side Bursaspor reacted first and brought the talent into their youth in 2005. In the summer of 2007 Demir then received a professional contract, but continued to play exclusively for the youth and reserve teams.

In the winter break of the 2008/09 season Ertuğrul Sağlam took over the post of head coach at Bursaspor. As one of his first official acts, he involved some talents from the youth department such as Eren Albayrak , Serdar Aziz and Muhammet Demir in the professional squad. From then on, these talents trained with the professionals in addition to their work in the youth and reserve teams and sat on the bench at some of the professional league games. Demir made his professional debut on the penultimate match day of the 2008/09 season at the home game against Gaziantepspor on May 24, 2009. He was substituted on for Veli Acar in the 86th minute .

In the next season Demir continued to train with the professionals and completed a league and a cup game for his team. His team led the Süper Lig for almost the entire season and delivered a thrilling head-to-head race with Fenerbahçe Istanbul until the last match day, which they won. The won championship made Turkish football history by becoming the second Anatolian club after Trabzonspor to break the championship hegemony of the three big Istanbul clubs Fenerbahçe, Galatasaray and Beşiktaş . As part of the championship team, Demir was, like the entire team, one of the most legendary players in his club. In the first weeks of the 2009/10 season Demir was suspended from the team roster along with Eren Albayrak . The team boss Sağlam justified this decision with the fact that both players in the players of the reserve league had been noticed due to unsporting behavior towards their opponents.

During the winter break of the 2010/2011 season Demir moved to the Turkish first division club Gaziantepspor . In return, Ahmet Arı moved from Gaziantepspor to Bursaspor . At Gaziantepspor Demir came to two short appearances in two league games by the end of the season. In the new season he came in the qualifying game for the UEFA Europa League against Legia Warsaw on a short stint and was then no longer considered by head coach Tolunay Kafkas . After Kafkas resigned after the 4th match day, Abdullah Ercan took over as coach. This coach, with whom Demir already worked in the Turkish national youth teams, let Demir play in the league game against Gençlerbirliği Ankara in the starting line-up. Demir scored two goals and set up one in that game. He was instrumental in the 3-0 victory of his team, was voted player of the day by many magazines and thus achieved the breakthrough he had hoped for. In the next match against the Turkish top club Galatasaray Istanbul Demir also played from the start. In this game Demir managed to equalize his team 1-1. Demir converted a deep cross from the left with a hack trick into a goal and scored one of the most handsome hits of the day. In the further course of the season Demir got another 7 league goals, so that he was the most successful goalscorer of his team with 10 hits. His achievements in the 2011/12 season meant that the then 19-year-old Demir was viewed by many specialist journalists as a striker's hope. In the game of the 12th match day of the 2012/13 season against Kayserispor Demir suffered a cruciate ligament rupture and was out for the rest of the season. Demir celebrated his comeback on the 1st matchday of the 2013/14 season in the away game against Galatasaray Istanbul. In this game he was substituted on in the 67th minute and scored with an overhead kick, the connecting goal of his team to 1: 2 final score. This goal was voted the goal of the match day by many newspapers.milliyet.com.tr:

After Demir was associated with several clubs in the 2015/16 winter transfer period, he moved to league rivals Trabzonspor , the club in his home province of Trabzon, for a transfer fee of 2.75 million euros . After playing for this club for a year, he was loaned to his previous club Gaziantepspor for the second half of the 2016/17 season for the rest of the season. After his return to Trabzonspor in the summer of 2017, Demir's move to the new first division club Sivasspor was announced. At this club, in addition to his regular position of center forward, he was often used as a playmaker or hanging tip and was more involved in building up the game.

For the 2019/20 season he was signed by Istanbul Başakşehir FK and loaned to the first division newcomer Gaziantep FK after the pre-season preparation phase .

National team

After being able to convince with his club for a long time, Demir was nominated for the first time in his career in the squad of the Turkish national team by national coach Fatih Terim in October 2014 as part of two qualifying games of the EM2016 . Previously, six players were released from the squad due to injury, so Demir was a successor to his first national team nomination. In the game of October 10, 2014 against the Czech Republic, Demir came on in the 67th minute for Olcay Şahan , making his international debut.
