NGC 4969 is a gravitationally connected twin galaxy in the constellation of Virgo . It is an estimated 368 million light years from the Milky Way . NGC 4969-1 is a 13.9 mag bright elliptical galaxy of the Hubble type E-S0 and NGC 4969-2 is a 14.7 mag bright lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0.
The galaxy pair was discovered by Edward D. Swift on April 27, 1887 .
